Summer Camp 2011
This summer, we attended Camp Long Lake July 10-16, 2011. Nineteen
Scouts attended camp completing 34 merit badges with partial credit received
for another 3. Our eight new scouts each earned Totin Chip, Fireman's
Chit, and completed 28 requirements toward First Class rank. Mr.
Key was the Scoutmaster for most of the week, and Mr. Fisher was there
for the entire week. Mr. Dornacker, Mr. Kohel, Mr. Pomeroy and Mr.
Schumitsch also came for part of the week. Mr. Ryan was a Camp
Commissioner for the week.
Troop 53 held a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Friday night campfire
program, followed by the call out by the Order of the Arrow. Nick
Buban and Mr. Dornacker were called out. They may attend either the
Fall or Spring Order of the Arrow Conference to conduct the ordeal.
Congratulations to Nick and Mr. Dornacker.
Troop 53 has been a top competitor at Camp Long Lake for several
years. This year was no exception. The Troop again brought
home two ribbons for First Place in the Camp Wide Relay, and First Place
in Aquafest. Congratulations to our Scouts for working hard toward
these achievements. |
