PERSONAL CAMPING GEAR

A Scout should bring the following personal gear along on each campout. When additional items are needed, they will be listed on the permission slip for the outing.

Pack or Duffel Bag to hold all gear except sleeping bag, pad and chair (A large athletic gear bag with pockets works well)

Sleeping Bag (or blankets/sheet if weather is warm)

Ground Pad or Air Mattress (Optional)

Pillow (Optional)

Boy Scout Handbook, notebook and pen (VERY important for Scouts below 1st Class Rank since we work on advancement requirements)

Personal Clothing to suit the weather and outing:

Boy Scout Uniform Shirt

Pants

Shorts

Shirts

Socks

Underwear

Sweatshirt

Jacket

Poncho or Rain Coat

Extra Pair of Shoes

Swimsuit and towel (if swimming is planned)

Plastic Garbage Bags for dirty/wet clothes

Toiletries Kit (Soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, wash cloth, towel, etc)

Non-Aerosol Insect Repellent (may want to pack in a Ziplock bag)

Sunscreen (may want to pack in a Ziplock bag)

Flashlight with good/extra batteries

Compass (optional)

Pocketknife (optional, with Totin' Chip Card)

Canteen or Water Bottle (optional unless hiking is planned)

Folding camp chair (optional)

First Aid Kit

Mess Kit (Plate, Bowl, Cup, Fork, Knife, Spoon)

Electronic gear (games, radios, CD players, etc) may be brought along for use while travelling, but should be stowed away while at camp. These expensive items are easily damaged or lost, and detract from the camping experience. They may be confiscated for the duration of the campout by a Scoutmaster.
