Welcome to Scouts

What is Scouting?

If you are a boy in first through fifth grade, or 7 to 10 years old,  then Cub Scouting is for you and your family.  This is the first and biggest of the three scouting programs from the Boy Scouts of America.

Cub Scouts belong to a Pack and Den

All Cub Scouts are members of a Pack.

A Pack is divided into smaller groups called Dens.  A Den is a group of about 6 to 8 boys of roughly the same age.

Doing things and going places

You have lots to do as a Cub Scout.  Much of the fun happens right in the Den and Pack.  The Pack meets once a month and the Dens meet at least once a month, although you can meet more than that if you choose.

Cub Scouts also go to events like the Pinewood Derby and various camping trips.  They also take part in community events.  Cub Scouts gives you a chance to do a lot of exciting things.

Cub Scouts earn awards

You can have fun and earn badges and awards at the same time.

The most popular awards are the Advancement awards.  Boys fulfill requirements to earn their rank badge:  Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos and the highest award in Cub Scouting called the Arrow Light.

You can earn many other awards and medals as a Den or Pack, too.

Fun with a Purpose

Fun and excitement are key, but Cub Scouts help boys grow into good citizens, “men” of character and good personality.
